Kempten University of Applied Science is the only state higher education establishment in Allgäu. It trains students in the fields of engineering, business administration and tourism management, computer science and multimedia and social and health studies. Since its establishment in 1977
, this University at the edge of the Alps has experienced steady and continuous growth.
Each year, over 6,000 candidates apply for a place in Kempten and this figure is growing. Around 4,500 students

from private industry. A provisional start-up building has now been replaced by a 42,000 m² campus in Bahnhofstraße with modern teaching facilities, laboratories, a library and a canteen. 160 non-academic staff

The tuition fees
of 400 euros per semester are used to improve studying conditions, in particular the service infrastructure and teaching in small groups.
