At Jönköping University research and education are carried out at four schools: Jönköping International Business School, School of Education and Communication, School of Engineering and School of Health and Welfare.

Jönköping University has around 11,500 students, of which 2,200 are international students. The university is one of the top universities in international student exchange and among the best in Sweden in terms of attracting international students.

Jönköping University is one of three Swedish private, non-profit institutions of higher education with the right to award doctorates. JU operates on the basis of an agreement with the Swedish Government and conforms to national degree regulations and quality requirements. The university is characterized by internationalization, an entrepreneurial spirit and collaboration with surrounding society.

The university is organised as a non-profit corporate group with Jönköping University Foundation as the parent organisation and five wholly owned subsidiaries.

Research and education

Education, research and commissions are conducted through four schools: the School of Health and Welfare, the School of Education and Communication, Jönköping International Business School and the School of Engineering. University Services is the Group's service company, which is also responsible for the university's research library.

Research at Jönköping University is conducted both within research areas that are often tied to subjects, and within centres and institutes, the aim of which is to focus on certain research and development areas. The university offers a focused and international research environment that encourages work across disciplines and a close cooperation with business and society.

Doctoral education

The university is entitled to issue doctoral degrees in the disciplinary research domain of humanities and social sciences. Within technology, the university can issue licentiate and doctoral degrees in the field of Industrial Product Development. There are also a total of around 180 doctoral students at the university.
