We are looking for an ambitious and results oriented researcher  with a strong enthusiasm in digital electronics design and / or embedded software design. As a researcher at VTT, you will have a key role in design of imaging systems with main focus in image sensor readout design with FPGA’s. You identify and solve problems independently and creatively, while working closely and flexibly with a team of experts. You focus on the digital electronics design, but you can also contribute to the system level design and characterization measurements. It is also beneficial to understand the big picture and can provide input at all stages.  

In this position, you have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge hyperspectral camera hardware in a booming environment. Currently VTT is working on several space missions targeting asteroids and comets in addition to vast number of ground based applications.

With us, you will be responsible for

  • Implementation of image sensor readout on FPGAs
  • Related digital and/or analog electronics design 
  • Image sensor electrical characterization measurements
  • Identifying and solving the key issues within your domain of expertise.  

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor/Master degree or Ph.D. in electronics, programming or other relevant field
  • Experience of FPGA programming
  • Experience of microcontroller programming
  • Experience in design of sensor readout electronics 
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Open minded attitude, curiosity and ability to work on new, unknown, challenges

Ideally, your background includes the following

  • Hands on experience image sensor readout implementation in FPGA is a strong plus
  • Skills in programming of microcontrollers is a plus
  • Previous work experience in this field is a strong plus
  • Experience on analog electronics design is also beneficial
