Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.

The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy at the Laboratory for photovoltaics in the frame of a joint research project, funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche.

The Laboratory for Photovoltaics together with the University of Cambridge will investigate thin film solar cells, which have a shorter energy pay back time than conventional solar cells. The successful candidate will prepare thin film solar cells, based on chalcopyrite (Cu(InGa)S2) and perform opto-electronic analysis. This will be combined with advanced electron microscopy, performed at the University of Cambridge, to understand and mitigate limitations of current solar cells.

Your Role...

The postdoc will be a member of the Department of Physics and Materials Science within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine at the University of Luxembourg. She or he will perform research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.

  • Preparation by co-evaporation of chalcopyrite films and solar cells
  • Photoluminescence analysis
  • Data analysis and modelling
  • Interacting with the partners in Cambridge
  • Publications in international journals and conferences
  • Writing a thesis

  • Dr. or PhD in Physics (or equivalent)
  • Good publications
  • Good background in solid state physics, preferably in solar cells, semiconductors
  • Self-motivated, committed and curious
  • Creative and able to think independently
  • Excellent command of English

The yearly gross salary for every Postdoctoral Researcher at the UL is EUR 75.285 (full time)
