 Job Summary:

The SAP+D at UM6P seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in Resilient and Sustainable Materials and Construction, this is a pivotal academic position focused on advancing education, research, and practice in sustainable and resilient building practices. This role involves a blend of teaching, research, community engagement, and administrative responsibilities aimed at fostering innovation and excellence in the field of architecture and construction. The incumbent is expected to develop and deliver cutting-edge curriculum, conduct impactful research, secure funding, engage with industry and community stakeholders, and contribute to the academic community through service and mentorship. This position requires a deep commitment to sustainability and resilience in the built environment, alongside a passion for educating the next generation of architects and builders in these critical areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Curriculum Development:

Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to resilient and sustainable materials, building technologies, and construction methods.

Supervise student projects, theses, and dissertations that focus on sustainability, resilience, and innovative construction techniques.

Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge research and practices in sustainable and resilient construction.

Contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods and research approaches that advance the field of Resilient and Sustainable Materials and Construction

Research:

Conduct original research in the field of resilient and sustainable materials and construction methods, contributing to the body of knowledge with publications in reputable academic journals and conferences.

Seek and secure funding from external sources to support research projects and initiatives.

Collaborate with industry partners, other academic institutions, and research organizations on projects that advance the field.

Administrative Duties:

Participate in the administration of academic programs related to building science, Resilient and Sustainable Materials and Construction.

Engage in the recruitment and retention of students.

Contribute to the development of proposals for new academic offerings in the area of Resilient and Sustainable Materials and Construction.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Architecture, Resilient and Sustainable Materials and Construction, or a closely related field, with a focus on sustainable and resilient construction materials and methods.

Demonstrated experience in teaching and curriculum development in higher education, preferably with a focus on sustainable and resilient construction.

A strong track record of research and publications in the area of sustainable and resilient materials and construction techniques.

Experience in securing research funding and managing projects.
