Job Description:

One postdoc position is available at the CBS Department in materials Science. The job vacancy involves the design and synthesis of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) and their composites or derived oxides from inorganic wastes. The candidate will mainly investigate the extraction and purification of metal species from an inorganic matrix by-product and subsequently use it in the synthesis of MOFs. The materials synthesis will involve the use of wet chemistry and other known solid-sate methods, then characterized using different techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption, SEM, TEM, XAS, XPS, dissolution-NMR, IR spectroscopy and TGA..etc.

Required qualifications:

The candidate must hold a PhD degree in Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, or related disciplines with strong experience in MOFs and materials synthesis.

The candidate is recommended to demonstrate experience in undertaking independent research, managing research activities of Master and supervising PhD students.

Fluency in English as well as a proven ability to write scientific articles are also mandatory. The post-doctoral fellow

should be an effective team player to interact constructively with the interdisciplinary team of CBS department. For further information, please contact samir.elhankari@um6p.ma

The post requires the following skills:

  1. Familiar with the fabrication and characterization of porous functional materials as well as the purification of inorganic matrix.
  2. Able to examine the textural and structural properties of porous materials using a panoply of characterization techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption, SEM, TEM, XAS, XPS, dissolution-NMR, IR spectroscopy and TGA and other related spectroscopy techniques.
  3. Familiar with using materials in adsorption or water purification and catalysis…etc

About CBS department:

Research within CBS is organized around two main areas: Chemistry with its main chemical engineering component, and chemo-biology as well as heat treatments and their applications in industries. CBS-GPE projects aim to achieve an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms of these transformations to suggest new, original, more effective, sustainable, and environmentally friendly alternatives.

This position is available for two years.

  • Interested applicants should submit their online application with CV, cover little, and 2 contacts for a recommendation.
