The Numerical Analysis and Applied Mathematics (NUMA) Division of the Department of Computer Science focuses on the development, analysis, and implementation of numerical algorithms, and their application to address contemporary challenges in society, science, engineering, and technology. Progress in these fields is often closely linked to the availability of suitable mathematical models, computational tools, and software systems. The NUMA Division develops such models, tools, and systems, building on the latest advances in pure and applied mathematics, computer hardware, and algorithm and software design.
