This position allows you to obtain a PhD in the field of mathematical cognition in the research group of Bert De Smedt http://ppw.kuleuven.be/home/english/research/pserg/desmedt, with a focus on the development of academic achievement and educational neuroscience.

Potential topics for the PhD are: neurocognitive predictors of individual differences in mathematical cognition; neurocognitive overlap between math and reading; characteristics of dyscalculia, the impact of math on general cognitive abilities; multilingualism and math; meta-analyses in math cognition. It is also possible to propose an own thesis topic in the broad field of math cognition.
