Description of the research activity:
The research project focuses on the role of the exhibition as a space inherent to the public sphere, capable of defining places for aesthetic experimentation and narrative. It will analyze how the exhibition context has functioned as a true stage for developing experimental proposals that have significantly influenced subsequent cultural production. Within this framework, alongside fundamental questions related to content curation, the exhibit design and installation takes on a crucial role, highlighting historical episodes that deserve further exploration. The research thus aims to examine the cultural and project-based foundations of the spatiality of the exhibition, with a particular focus on moments when the act of showing transcends mere intervention for viewer fruition and becomes an autonomous artistic practice. In these cases, the exhibition transforms from a container to content, integrating into the practices of certain contemporary artists and proposing new modes of interaction between artworks and the audience. The research will take place within the framework of the Research Project (funded by PNRR) P+ARTS (Partnership for Artistic Research in Technology and Sustainability).
