Description of the research activity:
Recent developments in digital technologies, such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence, are introducing new forms of coexistence between humans and machines. As these technologies reshape the socio-cultural practices of everyday life, they are also significantly impacting the institutional spaces of museums and galleries. This transformation allows creatives from various fields to experiment with new forms of artistic production, expanding the very definition of art. The proposed research aims to investigate these new forms of artistic production and consumption enabled by the recent diffusion of VR, AR, and AI, while also engaging with contemporary philosophical reflections on the same themes, questioning the emerging cultural paradigms and their implications for our understanding of art and its role in society. The research will take place within the framework of the Research Project (funded by PNRR) P+ARTS (Partnership for Artistic Research in Technology and Sustainability).
