Laboratory Technician

The Musculoskeletal Bioengineering Laboratory, led by Prof. Dr. Tristan März, is an interdisciplinary research group focused on understanding the pathophysiology of arthritis. Our work integrates in vitro models across diverse cell types and in vivo models of joint injury and inflammatory arthritis to elucidate inflammation and fibrosis-relevant mechanisms that lead to joint disease. Our overarching goal is to identify and target novel molecular mechanisms underlying inflammation and tissue degeneration, with the long-term objective of developing novel disease-modifying therapies.

Project background

We are seeking a highly motivated laboratory technician to support technical laboratory experiments for an ongoing multidisciplinary project. The individual will be responsible for cell culture, molecular biology techniques, histological processing and staining, and image acquisition and analysis.

This is a project-focused position with a fixed one-year term, with the possibility of extension. 

Job description

  • Maintain various primary and immortalized cell culture in 2D and 3D models.
  • Perform various molecular biology assays, including qPCR, Western Blot, optical assays, ELISA, immunocytochemistry, etc. 
  • Perform histological processing, sectioning, and staining.
  • Attend laboratory and project meetings, conduct literature review to refine experimental protocols, maintain laboratory SOPs, curate and communicate results from assays.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred in Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a closely related field
  • Also acceptable, Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of relevant research or industry experience
