About the employer

The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - University of Applied Sciences is renowned for future oriented degree programmes in the economic and technical sciences. Innovation based on tradition is our motto. The THM was founded in 1971. However its roots reach back into the 19th and early 20th century, when schools for engineering were established in both cities.

Today the main fields of studies at the THM are economic and technical sciences. Classical disciplines like civil engineering, electrical or mechanical engineering are offered alongside progressive programmes like energy systems, biotechnology, media engineering, business administration and computer science. We constantly work on our curriculum by establishing new study programmes and updating the standing programmes to meet the requirements of a modern industrial society. Currently we implement Bachelor and Master degrees in all departments. In a few years they will eventually replace the current "Diplom" degrees and thereby support the internationalisation of studies.

Increasing student numbers (currently approx. 13.000, with 900 international students) reflect the attractiveness of our more than 50 degree programmes, which are organised in 12 departments and taught by over 250 professors. Furthermore the THM attaches great importance to the integration of practical elements into the study programmes. Currently one semester of the study programmes is reserved for practical training in local business and industry or abroad.

But the THM is not only an excellent place for learning, it is also an interesting community. Our social programmes (talks, concerts, sports, parties) offer the opportunity to become a part of the FH-community. If you are interested in becoming actively involved in our orchestra, the Student Union (AstA) or would like to organise an event or a group this would be more than welcome.
