The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) is an independent institute and a platform for research and information on international relations and foreign policy.

The institute has extensive experience in monitoring and analyzing the world, and is a trusted source of analysis of international relations, foreign affairs and current events. UI strives to create an open conversation about a complex world – a conversation founded in quality research and accessible analysis.

Research, analysis and information

The institute’s research and analysis is published via UI Papers and UI Briefs, as well as in academic journals and books. In addition to research, our research mission also includes policy-oriented analysis, as well as participation in international networks. Our information activities include seminars, publishing of printed and digital publications as well as expert participation in the media.

An independent institute and a non-profit organization

UI’s research is based on unbiased scientific analysis. As an organization UI does not take a stand on policy issues.

UI is a non-profit organization founded in 1938. The parent body of the institute is Utrikespolitiska samfundet (The Swedish Society for International Affairs).
