The contract is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension for a further two years following a positive interim evaluation on the basis of the evaluation regulations for junior professorships at Zeppelin University.
The ZU aims to understand the societal effects of climate change and other environmental issues and visibly contribute to mitigating detrimental consequences for people and our society’s welfare. To strengthen the psychological dimension in this multidisciplinary pursuit, we seek a promising scholar representing environmental psychology in research and education, with a research focus on behavioral change, behavioral modeling, and environmental decision-making. Research interests involve (but are not limited to) energy and resource conservation, mobility and transportation, consumer behavior, policy acceptance, and sustainability.

We expect a scholar with an internationally recognized research program that shows in excellent quantitative empirical work prominently visible in high-impact journals and in successfully acquired competitive third-party funding (e.g. DFG, SNF, NSF, EC). The ideal applicant has already interdisciplinarily collaborated with neighboring disciplines (e.g., sociology, economics, political science).

In regard to education, we expect pedagogical and didactical proficiency and a high commitment to teaching. The main teaching obligation is in some Bachelor and Master programs (including the new Psychology, Economics and Politics program, PEP). As a member of the Institute of Advanced Studies (ZU-IAS), the new junior professor will also provide courses for the interdisciplinary research program Sustainability and the doctoral program in the Zeppelin University Graduate School (ZUGS). The ability and willingness to teach classes in English and contribution to self-administration are taken as given.

Eligible candidates must fulfill the requirements stipulated in § 51 of the Higher Education Act of the state of Baden-Württemberg, encompassing a university degree, and outstanding doctorate in (environmental) psychology, and prior university-level teaching experience in environmental psychology or related psychological fields.
