This position for a senior researcher is opened in the framework of the FED-tWIN programme, supported by the Federal Science Policy (Belspo). You will be attached half-time to the General State Archives (ARA) and half-time to the RHEA (Research Centre Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality) research group at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
About the VUB
For more than 50 years, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has stood for freedom, equality and solidarity, and this is very much alive on our campuses among students and staff alike.
At the VUB, you will find a diverse collection of personalities: innovators pur sang, but above all people who are 100% their authentic selves. With some 4,000 employees, we are the largest Dutch-speaking employer, in the private sector, in Brussels; an international city with which we are only too happy to connect and where (around) our 4 campuses are located.
Add to this our principle of free research - in which self-reflection, a critical attitude and an open, creative mind around scientific and social issues are central - and you have a university that is fundamentally groundbreaking and pioneering in education and research. In short: the VUB all over again.
Moreover, the VUB is a member of EUTOPIA, an alliance of like-minded European universities, all ready to reinvent themselves.
About the AGR-ARA
The General State Archives and State Archives in the Provinces is a federal scientific institution that is part of the Federal Programmatic Public Service (POD) Science Policy. The institution consists of the General State Archives in Brussels, 18 branches of the State Archives across the country and the Study and Documentation Centre War and Contemporary Society (SOMA) in Brussels.
The State Archives acquire and preserve (after selection) archives at least 30 years old, originating from courts and tribunals, public administrations and notaries, as well as from the private sector and individuals (companies, politicians, associations and societies, influential families, etc.). The valorisation of these archives is one of the institution's main missions.
Not only in its 19 study rooms, but also online, the State Archives puts an extensive research environment at the disposal of a wide and varied public.
