The Department of History of Art at the University of Vienna is the biggest center for research and education in the visual arts in Austria. It focuses on the visual arts in Europe from late antiquity to the present day, and on islamic and asian art. There are currently 2000 students.
The "prae-doc" position as University assistant is available at the Department of Art History from September 1, 2018. The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff. End of contract: 31.01.2019.

Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Assistance of Prof. Sebastian Egenhofer in teaching and research, preparation of a dissertation, independent teaching in art history (19.-21. Cent.) (2 hours per week during the semester), participation in the administration of the institute.
Profile: - An above-average completed MA in Art History with a focus in the 19.-21. century (please send with your application a summary of c. 3 pages and a table of content); - A PhD-project with a focus of research in the 19.-21. century (please send with your application a exposé of 3-5 pages); - Teaching competence (including E-Learning) - Ability to work in a team and experience in academic research and self-administration
