The Department of Computing, Faculty of Technology at the University of Turku is looking for 1-2 postdoctoral researchers, doctoral researchers or project researchers in the field of Health Technology.

The work is full-time, although part-time work is possible. The positions are fixed term, starting as soon as possible by mutual agreement, and ending on September 30, 2027.

The positions are in the STIMULUS project (Speckle Technology and Digital Biomarkers of Microvascular Function for Monitoring Cardiovascular Diseases), funded by a European Innovation Council Pathfinder grant. In this project, we develop new instruments for assessing adverse changes in microcirculatory status linked to hypertension, chronic kidney disease and heart failure, leading to earlier detection of cardiovascular diseases (over 60 million people in the EU suffer from them). The instruments are developed and validated in clinical trials. We integrate two state-of-the-art technologies leading to a novel innovation, 3D speckle tissue monitoring.

The University of Turku leads the project and oversees a work package focusing on instrument development, biosignal analysis, and extraction of novel digital biomarkers. As a postdoctoral researcher, doctoral researcher or project researcher, you will join the innovative health technology research group at the University of Turku and a consortium of leading research institutes from Netherlands, Denmark, France, and Germany.

What we offer

You will have the opportunity to develop new innovative medical instruments including device prototyping, tissue modeling, signal processing and electronics design. You will be a part of a multidisciplinary research group with both clinical/hospital and international collaboration and will have the opportunity to pursue your own ideas, participate in other interesting side projects and carry out international research visits. All this leads to good possibilities to advance your research career.
