Centre for Journalism, Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark, Odense invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the SafeChilDe project. The position begins 1 February 2025 and lasts 24 months.

Job content
The SafeChilDe project is funded by TrygFonden and contains three work packages. Work package 1 focuses on the legal aspects of children being exposed to misinformation on social media. Work package 2 focuses on children's experiences with misinformation on social media in everyday life, while work package 3 focuses on developing a didactic game that can empower school children to navigate safely between credible information and misinformation on social media.

As a postdoctoral fellow in the SafeChilDe project, you will be part of work package 3 and work on the development, design, testing and implementation of the didactic learning game. The purpose of the game is to develop and strengthen the critical digital literacy of school children making them capable of discerning credible information from disinformation on social media.

As an applicant you are expected to have experience with:

  • developing, designing, and coding online, didactic games, such as for example the game Bad News. We aim to develop a research-based game as a key outcome of the SafeChilde project.
  • developing and conducting effect studies with experimental designs.

If you do not have all the experience, we are also looking for candidates who are capable of quickly learning the necessary skills needed for developing, designing, coding, and testing an online didactic game.

Also, it is a preference – but not a must – that you:

  • speak and write – or are capable of quickly learning to speak and write – Danish in order to make the testing and implementation of the game at Danish schools as efficient as possible.

In addition, it is expected that you are experienced as a scholar in publishing papers in relevant international journals and have experience in disseminating research results to a broad audience.

As a postdoc, you will be employed at the Centre for Journalism at the Department of Political Science and Public Management and will collaborate with the Digital Democracy Center and the Department of Design, Media and Educational Science at SDU. For a detailed description of the research profile and activities, please visit the websites of the sections.

The Department of Political Science and Public Management believes in fostering a stimulating and inspiring environment for both faculty members and students. The department's ambition is therefore to recruit, develop, and retain talented scholars committed to both academic excellence and departmental development. Furthermore, the department wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
