Professor with Specific Responsibilities in Cardiac Nursing (Combined Position)

The Research Unit of Cardiology, Department of Clinical Research, SDU, invites applications for a position as professor with specific responsibilities (WSR) in cardiac nursing (50%) combined with a position as senior nurse in cardiac nursing (50%) to be filled as soon as possible and for a five-year period with possibility of extension.

The Research Unit of Cardiology aims at expanding research, especially multidisciplinary research with researchers with other backgrounds than medical doctors. The aims are to develop further and specifically cover all highly specialized treatments offered within the field of cardiology in order to improve quality of care on an individual patient level.

Research tasks:

The professor will be expected to increase the research activity and to expand collaboration with other researchers at Odense University Hospital, at SDU, and abroad.

The professor must participate in further scientific development of the field both nationally and internationally. Also, profiling the field in the public eye will be an important task.

Teaching tasks:

The professor will be expected to mentor post-docs, PhD-students and pre-graduate students and to teach and participate in assessment committees at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The extent of these tasks will be negotiated.

Expectations of qualifications (professor wsr):

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

  • a PhD degree in health sciences or equivalent
  • research experience documented by international peer-reviewed journal articles within the fields of cardiac nursing
  • a documented record of teaching experience and teaching skills. The candidate will be expected to possess teaching qualifications corresponding to those obtained as an associate professor.
  • Track record on obtaining research funding
  • International research collaboration and collaborators with researchers in other disciplines and sectors
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Danish is not required initially, however, but should be mastered within 2 years

Expectations of qualifications (senior nurse):

  • Certified nurse
  • Substantial experience and skills in both clinical aspects and research within the field of cardiac nursing

The obligations will be to participate in the clinical duties of the department, especially in the specialized outpatient clinics (atrial fibrillation, heart failure and heart valve disease) on equal terms with the other specialized nurses.
