The Cardiovascular and Renal Research Unit, Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a position as professor in medical cardiovascular and renal pharmacology.
Research profile and tasks
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent program within the area of integrative pharmacology, and should be able to attract extramural funding. The candidate will also be expected to bridge and integrate basic science with clinical questions/challenges and preferably across several organ systems.
The main research area of the Department is cardiovascular and renal regulation of blood pressure; vessel growth and function in the normal condition and under pathological conditions; atherosclerosis; cardiovascular adaptations to physical work and renal regulation of NaCl balance.
The successful candidate must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent in biological sciences, must have proven postdoctoral training, teaching and supervising experience and must have demonstrated significant research through publications.
Applicants with research interests contributing to the ongoing research within cardiovascular pharmacology, physiology and pathophysiology at the Department will be preferred.
The main teaching commitments will be in pharmacology and physiology, and the successful applicant will be responsible for courses for science, pharmacy and medical students. The candidate will be expected to mentor graduate and PhD students pursuing their Master’s and PhD degree, respectively.
The candidate will be expected to possess teaching qualifications corresponding to those obtained as an associate professor.

The successful applicant for the professorship will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
