Senior Teaching Technician

Applications are invited for the above post within the Department of Foundation Engineering & Physical Sciences (FEPS) in the Faculty of Engineering based at the Jubilee Campus. 

This a great opportunity to be part of our expert technical team providing teaching support, and utilise your considerable experience and knowledge to contribute to the delivery of interesting and engaging teaching whilst developing further skills along the way. 

Working both independently and alongside our FEPS team, you will be involved in the organisation, design, and delivery of high-quality teaching on our established Foundation Year (FY) and newly developed Degree-Level Apprenticeship (DLA) programmes. 

Duties will include:

• Manage and develop the FY and DLA courses, ensuring support and infrastructure is delivered to the required standard.
• Teach, supervise, and advise students during practical teaching sessions, whilst completing their projects and remotely.
• Provide specialist technical support and advice to both staff and students relating to the FY and DLA taught programmes, covering a variety of engineering disciplines.
• Day-to day management of state-of-the-art teaching facilities.
• Review existing and develop new, effective and innovative practical teaching activities.
• Ensure all staff and students are fully compliant with workplace H&S regulations.

You should have one of the following: 

• HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject OR
• Extensive work experience in a relevant technical or scientific role

You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of engineering disciplines with previous experience of working within a teaching environment desirable. 

You will have the ability to communicate well with a variety of people, manage your own time effectively and rise to the challenge this fantastic opportunity presents.
