Salary:  £33,348 to £44,414 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

School of Medicine, Academic Unit of Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences in association with the National Institute for Health Research Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre hearing theme.

The primary role will be to provide methodological support and advice on medical statistics to researchers working in the field of hearing and deafness as part of the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide advice on a range of analysis methodologies relevant for medical research including systematic reviews, clinical trials and applied health research. The successful candidate will also assist researchers in developing the statistical aspects of high quality applications for submission to national peer reviewed funding streams.

The role will also involve participating in collaborative research, designing, analysing and interpreting the statistical components of studies in the field of hearing. The post holder will be expected to participate in other activities such as assisting with the delivery of workshops and seminars.

Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent in medical statistics, epidemiology, health services research, or clinical trials research.  Applications will also be considered from candidates who have a higher degree in the above subjects and substantial experience in applied health research. Candidates should have specialist knowledge in applied health research methods and medical statistics and excellent knowledge of a range of statistical software, e.g. Stata, SAS, SPSS. Candidates should also have experience in collaborative applied research including experience of providing input into the design and analysis of a range of study designs including clinical trials.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until the 31 March 2024. A further extension to the 31 March 2025 is expected but is subject to formal confirmation of funding. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week) however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 21.75 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours.
