Business Science Assistant/Associate/Fellow role is an established programme that offers an exciting opportunity to develop experience of working at the interface of academia and business. The role, for which some training will be provided, provides an opportunity for suitably qualified individuals to develop further their business engagement, innovation and entrepreneurial skills while working on a specific set of knowledge exchange and industry related projects. Specifically, this role will focus on progressing a portfolio of business/industry related projects emerging from the School of Chemistry’s world class research.
The successful applicant will join the established Business Partnership Unit (BPU) in the School of Chemistry to work closely with companies and academics to identify, design, develop and deliver collaborative projects, undertake patent and technical literature searches, assess commercial markets, develop business plans and coordinate/deliver technical work in line with health and safety guidelines. The role holder may be required to undertake laboratory work commensurate with abilities of the person appointed.
There is one post available and depending on qualifications candidates should apply for the Business Science Assistant role (candidates have a degree in Chemistry or related discipline) or the Business Science Fellow role (candidate have or are about to obtain a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline.). (Title will be ‘Business Science Associate’ where an appointment is made before PhD is completed). Some experience of working on industry related projects will be an advantage.
The post is full-time (36.25 hours) and will be offered as a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
