About the FSTM

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.

Your role

  • Research in statistical modelling of complex data, more precisely in one or more of the following topics: flexible probability distributions, (interpretable) machine learning, statistically enhanced learning, directional statistics
  • Research dissemination at international conferences
  • Teaching activity of up to 2-4 hours per week
  • Active participation in and support of the organization of the activities of the research group Team MIDAS and of DMATH

  • Administrative questions should be addressed

Your profile

  • PhD (not dating back more than 5 years) of high quality, ideally in Statistics
  • Research experience in at least one of the following topics: mathematical statistics, statistical modelling, statistical learning. Knowledge of directional statistics is considered a plus
  • Interest in interdisciplinary work, especially in biomedical research, is an asset
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python or R
  • Autonomous worker with good organizational and analytic skills
  • Very good written and oral skills in English
  • Capacity to integrate into a team and collaborate with its members, in particular with the PhD student hired on the same grant
