The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character. The University was founded in 2003 and counts more than 6,700 students and more than 2,000 employees from around the world. The University’s faculties and interdisciplinary centres focus on research in the areas of Computer Science and ICT Security, Materials Science, European and International Law, Finance and Financial Innovation, Education, Contemporary and Digital History. In addition, the University focuses on cross-disciplinary research in the areas of Data Modelling and Simulation as well as Health and Systems Biomedicine.

Within the University, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is a highly interdisciplinary research centre (IC), integrating experimental biology, clinical research, and computational biology approaches to develop the foundation of a future predictive, preventive and personalized medicine.

The Disease Modelling & Screening Platform (DMSP) is a dynamic scientific service provider, dedicated to advancing translational research projects at the LCSB. DMSP operates under the joint auspices of the LCSB and the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), with its cutting-edge laboratory infrastructure established at the LCSB site.

At DMSP, we are committed to advancing early drug discovery through the implementation of cell and organoid-based phenotypic screening. Our primary goal is to support research teams within the LCSB and LIH, as well as academic and commercial partners both in Luxembourg and abroad. Our overarching vision is to provide access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, complemented by expert guidance in experimental design, model selection, compound delivery, and the development and execution of high-content analysis.

Your Role...

Area: early drug discovery by implementing cell and organoid-based phenotypic screening, automated HC/HT screening

  • Design/perform various experiments using the portfolio of DMSP (assay development and optimization, compound library screening, identification of lead candidates).
  • Data analysis, preparation and presentation of results in written reports and presentations, protocols, SOP’s and other documentation (LIMS).
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments as needed.
  • Critically review the experimental design of projects which include core technologies.
  • Interact and collaborate with scientists at all levels (PhD students, postdocs, principal investigators, professors).
  • Participate in grant writing.
