The Department of Law of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a PhD candidate to conduct research in EU Public Law and/or Comparative Administrative Law.

Your Role...

The doctoral researcher will be working under the supervision of Professor Joana Mendes. The doctoral researcher’s main task will be to prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of EU Public Paw and/or Comparative Administrative Law, the thesis work will be undertaken at the University of Luxembourg but can also be jointly supervised with another university. The doctoral candidate will contribute to the teaching of classes ranging from one to three hours per week, of small group teachings and tutorials, during part of the duration of the studies.

The doctoral researcher will benefit from being part of large research group comprising several PhDs and Postdoctoral Researchers working on related topics of EU law, constitutional law, administrative law and comparative public law. Being part of the Doctoral School in Law will allow the doctoral researcher to enhance his/her knowledge-base and experience, through doctoral training and insertion in the community of PhD researchers in law.

Qualifications...

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated interest in EU Public Law and/or Comparative Administrative Law.  Critical and theoretical approaches to law are particularly encouraged, but different approaches to legal research will be equally considered. In particular, the following requirements apply:

  • A Master’s Degree in EU Law or Public Law
  • Linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: fluency in either English or French, good understanding of the second language and possibly a third language, will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
