Doctoral researcher (PhD candidate) in Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science (DCS) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM), is looking for a Doctoral researcher (PhD candidate) in Computer Science.

Your Role...

With the increasing use of knowledge-intensive computing technologies in all domains of our digital intelligent society, such as healthcare, education, logistics, and transportation, also comes an increase in the need to capture relevant domain knowledge by means of domain models.

In the face of such an increase in demand, a matching increase in supply becomes necessary. This actually causes a ''modeling bottleneck'' in the sense that there is growing lack of modeling skills. One of the solutions to the general shortage of (domain) modeling skills is to empower people without modeling background to produce higher quality domain models with the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI), so that everyone can be a domain modeler!

The goal of this PhD project is therefore the development of a theoretical framework for AI assisted domain modeling, its instantiation and evaluation in terms of a prototype of an assisted domain modeling environment and application to case scenarios.

Your Mission will be:

• Conduct research in line with the topic of the PhD project
• Disseminate results through scientific publications and presentations at conferences
• Write a PhD thesis and obtain a PhD in Computer Science
• Limited teaching activity

What we expect from you…

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• Some background in modeling and artificial intelligence (such as rule-based systems, knowledge engineering, dialog systems, NLP natural language processing, and machine learning) would be an asset.
• Strong analytical capacity, creativity, and ability for formal reasoning
• Good programming skills
• Good written and spoken English skills
