The Cloud-Based Computational Decision (CBD) project is led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry and Dr Caesar Wu. CBD project is designed to study critical and strategic decision-making processes via cloud computing, particularly how to leverage machine learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for complex and ambiguous problems (pricing, the total ownership cost (TOC), return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), product, market segmentation, etc.) that many Small Medium Enterprises (SME) are facing.

Your Role
This is a fully-funded position for three years (extendable to an additional 4th year) at the University of Luxembourg. The research aims at creating an innovative and novel solution for practical and strategic decision-making to grow high technology companies. The study has three main objects: a.) generate various knowledge representations or models, b.) train the models in a cloud environment, c.) build a software prototype with an advanced database for open access.
The successful candidates will join a strong and motivated research team led by Prof. Pascal Bouvry in order to carry out research to pursue a PhD on the following topic: Knowledge Representations and Modeling (#1), Learning From Data (#2), and Cloud computing (#3).Effective Research Methods (#4)
The position holder will be required to perform the following tasks:
Your Profile
Qualification: The candidate should possess an MSc degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or applied mathematics.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and experience in a number of the following topics:
Programming Skills: Python, Java, SQL. Some knowledge of R and C++ is desirable.
Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory. Some knowledge of French, German or Luxembourgish is desirable.
