Tasks and qualifications
The University of Jyväskylä has recently started a new engineering program for Bachelor, Master, and doctoral levels. The Faculty of Information Technology is one of the largest academic educators in the field of IT in Finland, strong in scientific research, and ranked high in the academic ranking of world universities. We are looking for two Postdoctoral Researchers in the field of Computer Science to strengthen the education.
A Postdoctoral Researcher does research in a research group led by Professors and pursues scientifically excellent and significant results in research projects. A Postdoctoral Researcher participates in the planning and execution of supplementary funding research projects and other tasks agreed on with the supervisor. Postdoctoral Researcher also participates in teaching tasks and supervision of theses in the education programs of Information and Software Engineering (technology) and Computer Science.
The Postdoctoral Researchers are expected to participate, according to their choice, in one or more research groups that combine Computer Science and university’s human sciences such as brain research, digital business, culture, sports technology, music technology, game research, psychology, education, learning and interaction, technical communication, technology management, or health technology and engage in collaboration between the research groups of the different fields.
Postdoctoral Researcher is required to have an engineering doctoral degree in Computer Science or in another applicable IT research area. Previous experience and evidence of research related to the position's content are considered an advantage for the applicant. We value an ability to collaborate, high-level publishing, active participation in procuring research funding, and interest in teaching and supervision of master theses and the research work.
The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. In this position, the Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to have excellent skills in the English language.

The Postdoctoral Researcher’s duty-specific part of the salary is determined by the job demand level 5-6 of teaching and research personnel in the general university salary system. Your salary is around 3,300 – 4,400€ a month depending on your qualifications and previous experience. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.

The CV needs to contain the contact information of two senior academic referees.
2. List of publications. The list should comply with the guidelines of the Academy of Finland.
3. A maximum of five main publications in one zip file.
4. Application letter, including applicant’s research interests and plan.

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä is the first and largest in its field in Finland. The Mission of the Faculty is to create science-based digital future.
