The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) invites applications for an Associate Professor in Biomedical Signal Processing at the Institute of Digital Technologies for Personalized Healthcare (MeDiTech) within the Department of Innovative Technologies (DTI) located in the new USI-SUPSI Campus in Lugano-Viganello. Degree of employment 100% with a permanent contract and starting on 1st November 2025, or date to be agreed upon.

The MeDiTech Institute conducts applied research and education that enables precision health, a holistic approach that aims to develop proactive, personalized solutions to health problems by integrating inter-individual variability into behavioral, environmental, and genetic determinants of health. This approach is based on preventive, prognostic, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications of data science and artificial intelligence, innovative medical devices, intelligent biomedical sensors and signal processing, image analysis, bioinformatics, and new ubiquitous health and telemedicine solutions. The institute also aims to help coordinate research and education activities in biomedical technologies at SUPSI and to become a center of expertise in medical technology with contributions from the various institutes of the DTI.

The MeDiTech Institute is organized in research groups that currently include Biomedical Signal Processing (BSP), Medical Devices (MD), Ubiquitous Health (UH), and Biomedical Informatics and data science (BMI). The BSP group focuses on the extraction of clinically relevant information from biological, subjective, and contextual data (e.g., ECG, physical activity, sleep, emotions). In addition, the BSP group studies the optimization of systems based on artificial intelligence and advanced statistics for prevention, therapy, and personalized diagnosis.
