The Faculté de médecine vétérinaire (FMV) of the Université de Montréal is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in Veterinary Dentistry to join the dynamic multidisciplinary team in his Department of Clinical Sciences. The FMV is located in Saint-Hyacinthe, the agricultural capital of Quebec with 57 000 inhabitants. The FMV is located 60 km (37 miles) from Montreal, a vibrant city with an international airport and excellent flight connections to Europe, the USA and South America. The FMV is also within easy reach of the beautiful, historic Quebec City and Ottawa, the capital of Canada. The FMV is located off campus, but maintains strong collaborative ties to other faculties at the Université de Montréal and other universities within the province. FMV is ranked among the top 35 veterinary educational institutions in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings. A structured mentorship program is available for newly hired professors. The successful professor will have the opportunity to collaborate on research activities with the Faculté de médecine dentaire of the Université de Montréal. The professor will work at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire (CHUV) in collaboration with several specialists - anesthesiology, surgery, dermatology, medical imaging, internal medicine, neurology, emergency and intensive care - committed to providing the best veterinary care and will be a teaching resource for future veterinarians in the Faculty. I will thus be able to consolidate the training offer in specialized veterinary dentistry and contribute to the development of those in front line dentistry. The successful professor will have the opportunity to collaborate on research activities with the Faculté de médecine dentaire at the Université de Montréal

As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of your Faculté de médecine vétérinaire

Through your teaching and your research activities, enhancing the reputation of your discipline and playing an active role in the overall operations of a renowned institution. As such, you will:

  • Participate in didactic teaching of Veterinary Dentistry to undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Participate in the clinical teaching of the Veterinary Dentistry Service to DVM students and graduate students (including interns and residents);
  • Develop research activities in the field of Veterinary Dentistry;
  • Contribute to outreach activities in your discipline (publications, conferences and others);
  • Contribute to the overall operations of the University.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) of equivalent degree;
  • Have successfully completed a residency in Veterinary Dentistry and be a diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) – certification no species specific veterinary dentist;
  • Diplomates of the European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC) – certification no species specific veterinary dentist and applications from board-eligible individuals will also be considered;
  • Strong interest in teaching, clinical service and research;
  • M.Sc. or an equivalent research experience;
  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
  • An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
