About us

We are a team of experts building a next-generation quantum computer - Rymax-One - specifically designed to solve real-world problems which are intractable on classical computers. To achieve this ambitious goal, we are assembling a team of researchers from academia and industry - combining the experience of ultracold atom specialists with the know-how of industry leading companies. Rymax-One will open new avenues for the optimisation of supply chains, vehicle routing, and even power grids – and thereby demonstrate the potential of quantum computing as one of the key technologies of the future.

Are you interested in joining us on this exciting mission?

We are hiring for several positions in our teams in Hamburg and Kaiserslautern.

Your responsibilities

  • design, build and continuously improve the hardware for a 500-qubit quantum computer based on neutral atoms
  • prototype and integrate laser light distribution systems to realise one-qubit and two-qubit gate operations with fidelities well below thresholds for NISQ algorithms and error correction codes
  • develop and implement the software and hardware for hybrid quantum-classical algorithms such as QAOA
  • develop machine learning models and hardware inspired algorithms to improve the performance and scalability of the quantum computing platform
  • closely collaborate with our partners in academia and industry as well as relevant external research groups to explore real-world use cases of quantum computing

About You

We are looking for outstanding applicants, who enjoy immersing themselves in various domains of science and technology to realize a quantum computer and make an impact in one of the most rapidly developing areas of science. Due to the highly interdisciplinary nature of the project, we encourage applications of candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds such as ultracold atoms, atomic physics, quantum optics, quantum computing, laser technology, as well as machine learning and computer science.

What we offer

In return we offer fully funded PhD and postdoctoral positions embedded in a thriving environment at the intersection of academia and industry, benefitting from outstanding infrastructure and financial support, and the unique opportunity for you to make an impact in one of the key technologies of the future. We attach great importance to a careful selection of the team members, their support and intensive supervision as well as on teamwork.
