At the Institute for Theoretical Physics, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc, all genders) until expected 31.08.2025 for 40 hours/week. Expected start: August 2024.

Tasks:

  • Theoretical research in the area of quantum optics, with a particular focus on self-organization and cooperative phenomena in nonequilibrium many-particle systems, and the generation of nonclassical states via collective light-matter interactions
  • Writing and publishing of scientific articles
  • Participation in research and project activities
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Participation in teaching activities and exams, as well as supervision of Bachelor, Master and PhD students
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • PhD in physics
  • Research record and excellent knowledge of theoretical quantum optics, quantum information science, or aspects of many-body theory
  • Keen interest and proven track record to collaborate with experimental groups
  • Interest in supervision and work with students
  • Ability for independent research, teamwork, and creative thinking
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,752.30/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
