The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of 

Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Aerodynamics «

with an expected appointment winter semester 2025/26. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. 

Scientific Environment

The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy at the TUM School of Engineering and Design.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Aerodynamics with a focus on one of the following areas: aerodynamics of transport and highly agile aircraft configurations, unconventional vehicles with fixed wing / rotary / hybrid wing layouts, configurational aerodynamics and flow physics related to intelligent-wing technologies, highly flexible high aspect ratio wings, laminar-flow technology, manipulation of turbulence and vorthex dominated flows, advanced flow and load control measures. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs as well as further developing aerospace teaching curricula.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
