Who are we?

Télécom Paris, a school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of the top 5 French general engineering schools.

The mainspring of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.

Télécom Paris invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professor position at the LTCI laboratory as part of the ACES (Autonomous & Critical Embedded Systems) team in the INFRES (Computer Science and Networks) department. The recruiting team conducts leading research on the modeling, analysis, management and development of complex systems to provide guarantees on crucial properties such as safety, security, adaptability, scalability, correctness, etc.
Assistant professor positions are full-time positions dedicated to young researchers with a PhD. These positions are similar, in terms of teaching duties, to those of Maître de Conférences in French universities. A prior qualification of the applicant by the national CNU is however not required. A full-time tenure track faculty position consists of an assistant professor position with a three-years contract renewable once. This status gives access to excellent research conditions such asa reduced teaching load and a research package. The faculty member is expected to defend her or his habilitation à diriger les recherches before coming up for tenure. After the fixed-term contract, the holder may be recruited on a permanent position as a Full Professor or Associate Professor, depending on his/her profile, and the obtained results in terms of research, teaching, and other related activities.

The position is part of the ASC (Complex Systems Architecture) chair between IPP, Dassault Systems, Dassault Aviation, Nexter and Naval Group. It comes with additional benefits, such as a dedicated engineer for assisting with teaching and research duties; and with research project funds such as a fully funded PhD.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Designing and delivering courses.
  • Supervising and advising students on their research work.
  • Contribute to the publication of scientific articles.
  • Research and develop relationships with industry and establish contractual collaborations. Write research projects. and respond to calls for proposals.
  • Participate in and contribute to the scientific activities of the host Group (seminars, defence, juries).
  • Give presentations and lectures.

Job requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need solid expertise in model-based system engineering, as well as significant teaching and research experience. You will need to be able to convey your knowledge in a clear and accessible way to students, as well as being able to conduct cutting-edge research in your field. We are looking for someone with a PhD.

Candidates are expected to have excellent scientific publications and conduct research on the topic of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for complex cyber-physical systems, or in a related field applicable to MBSE, such as autonomic management, safety-critical systems or security by design. This research is expected to consolidate the expertise of the ACES recruiting team, which has strong research activities in the fields of MBSE, complex autonomic systems, security & safety of software systems, empirical software engineering, software maintenance and evolution, and open-source software. Research and/or teaching affinity with these fields, and in particular with MBSE and complex systems, will be appreciated. However, candidates from all areas of software and systems engineering are welcome to apply.
