PostDoc “Risk Assessment of Energy Infrastructure in the Alps” 80-100% (f/m/d)

The Joint Initiative SPEED2ZERO aims at contributing to halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, preparing the infrastructure needed to achieve this, building a resilient energy system and safeguarding biodiversity. To this end, it develops toolboxes, action plans, and technology to enable a sustainable transformation to a net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) and biodiversity- positive Switzerland. As part of this, you will analyze the risk to planned future renewable energy infrastructure in the Swiss Alps due to gravitational mass movements, considering climate change and changing alpine ecosystems and forest structures. In addition, you will develop guidelines to optimize the resilience regarding the availability of and access to energy resources in the Swiss Alps in view of extreme and compound weather and snow events. You will work closely with the other project partners at ETH Zurich, WSL, EPFL, Eawag, PSI and Empa, and communicate scientific results to decision- and policy-makers, as well as society at large.

You hold a doctoral degree in natural sciences, have high competence in handling climate data and different spatial datasets for analysis and visualization. Good written and oral communication skills in English and German are required. You are motivated and a team player. Independence and a well-organized and efficient way of working are a matter of course for you. You enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams, have high communication skills in science and towards practice (written and oral).
Please send your complete application to Jasmine Zollinger, Human Resources SLF, by uploading the requested documents through our webpage. Applications via email will not be considered. Dr. Nadine Salzmann, phone +41 (0)81 417 0822, will be happy to answer any questions or offer further information. The WSL strives to increase the proportion of women in its employment, which is why qualified women are particularly called upon to apply for this position.
