The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) is offering three lectureships (Associate Professor positions), each fully funded for five years and including financing for two PhD students – a rare chance to establish a dynamic research environment at one of the highest ranked universities in the world in forestry.

The positions are part of the Wallenberg Initiatives in Forest Research (WIFORCE), a program funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The program addresses key challenges in sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation. Each position focuses on a specific area of forest biodiversity research, enabling interdisciplinary collaboration.

Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) with a focus on the effects of forest management on biological diversity in terrestrial environments

This role will focus on researching how forest management impacts biodiversity in terrestrial ecosystems. The appointed researcher will develop methods to protect sensitive habitats, enhance ecosystem resilience, and restore environments for threatened species.

Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) with a focus on the effects of forest management on biological diversity in wet forested environments

Focusing on forested peatlands and riparian zones, this position will study the interplay between water-rich habitats and forest management. The research will emphasize strategies for conserving threatened species and methods for sustainable ecosystem restoration.

Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) with a focus on method development for evaluating biological diversity

This position will concentrate on developing advanced tools and methodologies for assessing biodiversity. By leveraging technologies such as remote sensing, genetic analysis, and AI, the research will bridge empirical data and model development to create practical, scalable solutions.

More information about the open positions and how to apply can be found under each individual position description (see links above).

The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) plays a key role in the development for sustainable life, based on science and education.
