As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the project team to work on areas in mechanical design & implementation of mechatronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to teach in a classroom and lab arrangement.
  • Support research and industrial project work undertaken by the university, where opportunity arises.
  • Participate in technology/development projects in all phases from specification to release/implementation.
  • Able to read and understand electronics schematics or system design.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Mechatronics/Mechanical or Computer Science or a related field from a recognized University.
  • Entry level candidates are welcomed to apply.
  • At least having 2 or more years of hands-on experience with the design and development of mechanical and/or mechatronics systems.
  • Strong competency in CAD software e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.
  • Good knowledge of DFx specifically for fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Engineering and design knowledge, and solid knowledge of the prototype design process.
  • Good knowledge of mechatronic sub-systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience in basic electrical and electronics systems would be advantageous.
