Group of Automation and Integrated Systems (GASI), from the Institute of Science and Technology of Sorocaba, at Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), State of São Paulo, Brazil, seeks for motivated and well qualified young researchers for a postdoc position in power electronics and smart grids technologies.
The main activities of our new colleague will be related to the design and control of multifunctional power conditioners for distributed and cooperative operation in low-voltage distribution grids, considering distributed generators and prosumers installations. The proposed methodologies shall be validated through computer simulation and experimental activities, for which small-scale prototypes will be constructed with direct participation of the posdoc researcher.
The expected activities are associated to the Collaborative Research “Interdisciplinary Research Activities in Electric Smart Grids”, supported by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation), which is developed by the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, State University of Campinas (FEEC/UNICAMP - www.fee.unicamp.br/lab-rei), in collaboration with the Institute of Science and Technology of Sorocaba (ICTS/UNESP - http://www.sorocaba.unesp.br).
The activities will take place at UNESP, in Sorocaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil.
Supervisor: Prof. Fernando Pinhabel Marafão.
Candidates must have excellent development skills and experience with simulation tools for electrical circuits and power electronics (PSIM, Plecs, Matlab/Simulink), as well as hardware (power converters topologies and modulation techniques, drivers, signal conditioning, PCB design, output filters, etc.) and software (digital signal processing, programming of microcontrollers, FPGAs and DSPs, C/C++, Python, etc.) skills. Moreover, the candidate must have abilities to model, analyze and design different power electronic converters and their respective current and voltage controllers.
Other desirable skills include basic knowledge on: power theories, cooperative control, communication technologies, statistics, data mining, optimization techniques and artificial intelligence. Additionally, good communication skills are mandatory in English and are desired in Portuguese.
