Position Overview:
The SAP+D at UM6P seeks a dynamic and innovative Postdoctoral Researcher to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will lead groundbreaking research in the field of heritage innovation and digitalization, focusing on the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies to preserve, interpret, and engage audiences with cultural heritage. This position is central to our mission of transforming the accessibility and sustainability of heritage through digital means.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Development:
Conduct collaborative research projects aimed at the digital preservation of cultural assets.
Innovate and develop methodologies for 3D scanning, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and other digital tools in heritage contexts.
Analyze the efficacy of digital interventions in heritage conservation and management.
Collaboration
Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of historians, archaeologists, digital artists, and computer scientists.
Engage with technology developers to inform the creation of heritage-focused digital tools.
Publication and Dissemination:
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
Contribute to the department's research portfolio and enhance its visibility in the field of digital heritage.
Develop policy recommendations for the digitalization of heritage practices.
Engagement and Education:
Create engaging digital content to increase public awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage.
Organize workshops and seminars to educate stakeholders on the importance of digital preservation.
Mentor graduate students and contribute to teaching modules related to digital heritage.
Project Management:
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure the successful completion of research goals.
Write grant proposals to secure funding for future research initiatives.
Oversee the maintenance and upgrading of digital heritage lab equipment and software.
Qualifications:
PhD in Digital Humanities, Cultural Heritage, Architecture, Computer Science with a focus on heritage applications, or a related field.
Proven track record of research and publications in digital heritage or a closely related area.
Experience with 3D modeling, VR/AR development, or data visualization in a heritage context.
Strong computational skills, including programming and the use of digital analysis tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
Fluency in English and french is desirable.
