Job Summary:

Center of Algal Biotechnology MAScIR-UM6P is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our interdisciplinary team focused on in Algal biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the development and optimization of biochemical processes and Algal-based-biorefinery with applications in various applications including biotechnology, environmental science, and renewable energy.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on the biochemical composition, metabolic pathways, and genetic regulation of microalgae to optimize biomass production and biochemical yields.
  • Design and develop bioprocesses for the cultivation, harvesting, and extraction of high-value products from microalgae, such as biofuels, nutraceuticals, or biochemicals.
  • Investigate the utilization of different cultivation strategies, including photobioreactors and open ponds, to maximize biomass productivity and product quality.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate findings into scalable bioprocess designs and strategies.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Biochemistry, environmental Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Strong background in algal biochemistry, metabolic engineering, or bioprocess optimization.
  • Experience in biochemical analysis techniques (e.g., GC-MS, HPLC) and molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, genetic manipulation).
  • Proficiency in bioreactor operation, fermentation, and downstream processing techniques.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
