IAP Assistant Professor in Terahertz/Optical Photonics

Missions :
The candidate will contribute to the missions and research projects in Terahertz Photonics within the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP), and he will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics.

The UM6P - IAP invests in hiring future leaders in lab-on-a-chip, Terahertz and Space Technologies, advanced materials, and quantum and photonics devices. With this posting, the IAP at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks new faculty specializing in Terahertz Physics and Technology.

The recent Terahertz technological progress has opened high challenging opportunities in using TeraHertz (THz) waves for imaging, sensing, and spectroscopy. Terahertz Technology contributes to new applications in security detection, health, biomedical, Agriculture, communications area (5G/6G). This research bridges the gap between the electronics and opcs spectrum.

There are interests in Transceiver design and architectures and their issues questions for very high data-rate wireless communication. Lab in a chip, small, low-cost, and multi-functional devices, systems, and industrial and medical applications. Terahertz spectroscopy of Matter (investigation of internal structure, etc.).

The objective is to develop a research program on Terahertz technologies. The position focus and the characterization of photonic devices and materials, THz Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, and the THz-TDS developments. This position focuses on exploring and building up an industrial partnership in the domain.

The successful candidates teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses. He/she supervises graduate students. He/she develops and directs a substantial funded research program; participates in the IAP and university faculty services; demonstrates dedication to diversity, and contributes to the UM6P University's development.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics, Photonics, or close field and a least two years of post-doctoral research at a prestigious institution are required. He/she must have a proven track record of innovation and high-impact research. He/she is expected to build an original, well-funded research program with an international profile.

Starting date: Septembre 1, 2023
