Missions :
The candidate will contribute to the missions and research projects in the physics of low-dimensional materials, focusing on applications of low-dimensional materials in optics and optoelectronics within the Institute of Applied Physics (IAP). He/she will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics.

The IAP invests in hiring future leaders in lab-on-a-chip, Terahertz and Space Technologies, advanced materials, quantum, spintronics, and photonics devices. With this position, the IAP at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks new faculty members specializing in applied physics and low-dimensional materials physics.

The faculty is expected to perform experimental research related to the optical properties of low-dimensional materials, including their luminescent, nonlinear optical proprieties, excitation dynamics, and ultrafast optics to promote applications in ultrafast optoelectronic and laser devices, wavelength converters, and other related applications areas.

Candidates must demonstrate expertise in ultrafast laser and optical applications of low-dimensional materials with a relevant publication track record and planning, conducting, and leading research projects, with the mission to support the Moroccan high-tech industry. Therefore experience in innovation, R&D, and industrial collaboration is required. Furthermore, the successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate physics courses. He/she supervises graduate students. He/she develops and directs a substantial funded research program; participates in the IAP and university faculty services; demonstrates dedication to diversity, and contributes to the UM6P University's development.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics or equivalent and a least two years of post-doctoral research at a prestigious institution are required. He/she must have a proven track record of innovation and high-impact research. He/she is expected to build an original, well-funded research program with an international profile.

Position starting date: September 1, 2023
