Candidates should have an excellent research record in the area of monetary economics and dynamic macroeconomics. In particular, we look for applicants who use state-of-the-art empirical methods to research questions of economic policy relevance. A focus on research interests that strengthens the research profile of the School of Economics and Business (Empirical Economics and Policy Consulting, Business Governance) and opens up opportunities for cooperation is desired. Candidates should have experience or willingness to acquire research grants and to execute funded projects.
The successful candidate will offer courses in all areas of economics and contribute to the economics and business study programs. Experience in teaching in English is an important requirement; non-German speaking applicants are expected to being able to teach in German after two years. The holder of the professorship is obliged to fulfil the requirements stated in §34 of the higher education act of Saxony-Anhalt. Additionally, active participation in academic self-management is required.
The professorship is part of the Department of Economics and as such part of its research network. Therefore, the professorship is expected to be an active member within the research network and to cooperate especially with the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH). Further cooperation relationships exist with the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO), and the Fraunhofer Society (IMWS/CEM). The successful applicant is also expected to contribute to the doctoral program in economics within the framework of the Central-German Doctoral Program Economics (CGDE).
Eligible applicants hold a higher university degree and a PhD. Additionally, the university requires further academic achievements as publications, teaching experience, and third-party funding experience. These experiences could have been obtained as a junior- (or assistant) professor during a postdoctoral qualification or during other scientific positions in business or administration. Severely disabled applicants will be preferred when equally qualified.
