Postdoctoral Position in Molecular HIV Research (m/f/d)

in the laboratory of Prof. Oliver T. Keppler.

We are interested in understanding the fundamental biology of HIV in primary cells of the immune system, including resting CD4 T cells, macrophages and dendritic cells

(Nature Medicine 2012 Nov;18(11):1682-7, J Leukoc Biol. 2015 Jul;98(1):5-14; Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2017 Mar 7;114(10):2729-2734). Recently, we have developed innovative methodology that now allows unprecedented studies into the function of cellular genes for HIV-1 infection in resting CD4 T cells (Nature Methods 2022; 19: 81–89), monocytic cells and CD34-positive stem cell precursors. We seek to gain further insight into the molecular mechanisms that regulate HIV restriction, susceptibility and latency of these important primary target cells ex vivo and, in collaboration, in humanized mouse models.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record and practical experience in virology, ideally HIV, molecular biology or immunology. We expect strong communication skills and a high-level of intrinsic motivation.
