The Weiberg lab is located at the Faculty of Biology of the LMU. The successful candidate will conduct research within the scope of a German Research Foundation (DFG)-funded project in the frame of the collaborative Research Unit 5116 - exRNA concentrating on cross-kingdom RNA interference in plant-pathogen interactions. Your tasks

  • Develop computational tools to analyse mRNA and small RNA transcriptomics data
  • Apply genetic, biochemical, and cell biological tools to characterize small RNA function during infection of plants
  • Interact with computer scientists and experimental researchers dealing with extracellular RNA
  • Advance understanding on how pathogens manipulate plants via extracellular RNA

Your profile

  • Master degree in Biology or in a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience with plants and a strong background in molecular biology
  • Proficiency in statistics and R language
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Enthusiasm for research and “can-do”-mentality

The position is available immediately on a 65 % basis with a salary according to TV-L13 pay scale of the German public sector.
