Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/div)
in Host-Fungal Interactions

Research areas: microbiology, molecular biology, RNA biochemistry

This project is part of the Junior Research Group RNA Biology of Fungal Infections, which brings together the study of pathogenic fungi and RNA biology to better understand and treat fungal infections.

Your tasks:

The successful candidate will investigate mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis through the lens of RNA. The main topics of the project are:

  • Establishment of assays to assess host RNA processing during fungal infection
  • Determination of fungal fractions capable of altering host RNA processing
  • Definition of RNA editing patterns linked to altered host response during fungal infection(s)

Your profile:

  • Doctoral degree in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related discipline; candidates about to obtain their degree are welcome to apply
  • At least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  • Strong experimental background in molecular biology, microbiology, and/or biochemistry
  • Experience in working with human cells and/or fungal pathogens (or willingness to learn)
  • The candidate should be willing and able to work in an international, interdisciplinary research team
  • Very good communication skills in English

The successful candidate will be hosted in the Junior Research Group RNA Biology of Fungal Infections led by Dr. Matthew G. Blango. The Leibniz-HKI is embedded in the outstanding scientific environment of the Beutenberg Campus providing state-of-the-art research facilities and a highly integrative network of life science groups. The Postdoctoral researcher will participate as a postdoc member of the Jena School of Microbial Communication.
