Project

The synthesis of biomolecules by non-enzymatic synthetic routes is essential for the development of novel therapeutics; however, current alternatives are onerous to the environment and costly to implement. Therefore, alternatives are highly desired.
In this context, this PhD will focus on the development of alternative non-enzymatic synthetic methods for the sustainable and versatile preparation of biomolecules such as peptides, sugars, and nucleic acids employing the catalytic activity of metal oxo clusters based on group(IV)metals.

Profile

You have a master degree in chemistry, and is experienced on organic and inorganic syntheses, reaction development, and organometallic chemistry. Experience with the synthesis of group(IV) metal oxo clusters, and their applications in catalysis for the synthesis of biomolecules are highly desired. Fluency in English, and meeting the admission requirements of the Arenberg Doctoral School are essential.

Offer

FLOF funding is available for the entirety of the PhD; initially, a 1-year contract will be provided which will be extended in case of a good evaluation.
