Job description

We are seeking a postdoc to join our project at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, which focuses on harnessing the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) to explore hidden trade-offs and opportunities within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). By analyzing extensive datasets from scientific papers and reports, this role aims to uncover crucial insights that will drive nuanced and informed sustainability policymaking. We value a collaborative spirit, innovative problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to impacting global sustainability positively.

The focus is on finding more robust and less obvious connections among SDGs. Using SDG 13 on climate action as entry point, the final goal is to develop a framework for data-driven decision making for policy, with the aim of maximizing the synergies within SDGs. The selected postdoc will have a joint appointment at the Department of Engineering Mechanics and the KTH Climate Action Centre. We will also extend the previous work on AI and the SDGs by Profs. Vinuesa and Fuso-Nerini: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-14108-y

The KTH Climate Action Centre is a highly collaborative, research-focused and unbiased centre uniting changes in technology, policy and society with:

  • Disruptive multi-disciplinary climate action research
  • Engagement with students and citizens
  • Collaboration with policy and business
  • Strategic partnerships

Research projects within this postdoctoral position will be developed with a variety of partners to the Climate Action Centre, such as international and national agencies working with digitalization and climate action, and the private sector.

The postdoc will be part of a vibrant multidisciplinary group, and will be able to conduct cutting-edge research with important policy implications. The candidate will be also actively contributing to the digitalization & climate theme at the KTH Climate Action Centre. The candidate will work closely with Profs. Ricardo Vinuesa and Francesco Fuso-Nerini.
