Job description

We are looking for 1-3 postdocs with a strong background and interest in networked control systems, mathematics, modeling, reinforcement learning, and machine learning. The successful candidates will join a project on developing novel mathematical and computational tools for the fundamental understanding and engineering design of emerging networked control systems, including learning complex decision-making dynamics from big data and modeling networked cyber-physical-human systems.

The Division of Decision and Control Systems conducts fundamental research in networked control systems, control of communication systems, and system identification. Industrial projects involve partners such as ABB, Ericsson, and Scania. A major part of the research is conducted in EU-projects in collaboration with European industry and universities. We have a large academic network and collaborate with researchers at Caltech, MIT, UC Berkeley, Stanford, among others.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Automatic Control, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field.
  • The candidates need to have a very strong background in systems and control theory, optimization, or cyber-physical systems.
  • The successful applicants are required to have research expertise with an outstanding research and publication record, as well as well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • We are looking for strongly motivated individuals, who can work well both independently, as well as collaborative. Candidates for this position also need to have teaching abilities.
  • Good command of English orally and in writing is required to present and publish research results.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • It is meritorious with awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

    Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.

About the employment

The position offered is for, at the most, two years.

A position as a postdoctoral fellow is a time-limited qualified appointment focusing mainly on research, intended as a first career step after a dissertation.
